Part 1: The Sailor (USS Missouri) The 1950 publication date and inscription place G.K. Hovey as a young U.S. Navy sailor serving aboard the iconic battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) during the Korean War period.
Part 2: The Director (Three Mile Island) Decades later, this same G.K. Hovey became a central figure in another major U.S. event. As “Vice-President and Director, TMI-2,” Hovey was the high-level executive for Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed) responsible for managing the Three Mile Island (TMI) nuclear accident and the subsequent cleanup.
This book is the physical “missing link” that connects the young sailor on a world-famous battleship to the man who would later manage one of the most significant nuclear crises in history.
